Funeral services for J.B. Powell will be held Friday, September 25, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden, Louisiana with Rev. Bill Crider and Dr. Randy Hale officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden, Louisiana. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.

J.B. was born November 13, 1930 in Lena, Louisiana and entered into rest September 19, 2015 in Bossier City, Louisiana. He proudly served 21 years in the United States Air Force with tours in Korea and Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Fannie Powell, sons Jay and Mark Powell, brother Joe Powell, and sisters Martha Braswell, Opal Rome, Jessie "Jaye" Pevoteaux, and Ledoris Holland.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor Jean Powell of Minden, son David Powell and partner Michael Flowers of Austin, Texas, daughter Kelly Powell Behrendt and husband Richard of Aurora, Colorado, sister Mary Hodges of Baytown, Texas, grandchildren Jennifer and Adam Powell, Jordan and Madison Powell, David Behrendt, great-grandchildren Lakynn Futch, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Powell, Jimmy Powell, Sheldon Powell, Skip Rome, Steven Braswell, Jerry Garrett, and Ronnie Garrett.
