Garvis Ray Williams was the second oldest, and the only son, of ten children born to Ocie Durham and Truman Williams. At a later point in life, he changed his name to Ronald and was known as "Ron". He was twice married, the first to Virginia White from which two daughters were born before the couple divorced. A later and lasting marriage to Mary Cisneros produced one son.

From obituary published in the Sacramento Bee, on September 23, 2015:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Born in Kentucky in 1936, Ron passed away suddenly on September 13, 2015 at the Church of God in Carmichael, CA. He joined the Army at age 17 leaving behind his father, mother, and three sisters. After the Army he moved to California. He found a job in Paso Robles working with a coal company. He later joined the Ironworkers Construction Union (Local #118) where he worked for many years. When he visited his family 20 years later, he had 6 more sisters who did not even know they had a brother. Ron was enjoying retirement working part-time as a security guard and telling people about the Lord. God saved Ron from a life of sin and he was a faithful servant for many years. His death has been very hard on his family. Survived by his wife, Mary, his daughters Carrie and Shelly, and his son Geronimo, in addition to 7 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Ruth (Durham) Williams, and 2 sisters.
