Marjorie Ellen Dodd Herbine passed from this life to her eternal reward in heaven with her Savior early morning Saturday, September 26, 2015. She had been under the care of hospice for a short illness and in the presence of family.
Born January 14, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA to Cecil Eugene and Evelyn Dingee Bates Dodd she was the younger of 2 daughters. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Phyllis Irene Dodd DeMarco. She graduated from John Bartram High School in Philadelphia June 1949 and received a full scholarship to the then West Chester State Teacher College. There she met her life-long friends Jane, Bea and Marilyn and they remained forever close. After her graduation in May of 1953 with her BS in Education she taught first grade in Primus Elementary School. She left teaching at the birth of her first child and raised her family returning when her youngest entered school as a substitute in the Upper Moreland District in PA and then full time until retirement in 1994.
She spent each summer at Wildwood and one summer met a Navy service man on leave from Key West and fell in love. Robert Donald Herbine and Marge were married March 26, 1955 and it was the start of a marital union only broken by her husband's untimely death in 2007 after 52 years of marriage.
Together they had 3 children: Susan Elaine, Frederick "Rick" Warren, and Judith Lynn. All three survive her as well as her son's wife Nancy Browne and 2 grand-daughters Lauren Elizabeth and Quinn Alexandra. She is also survived by her niece who she considered a daughter Deborah Ann De Marco Ritenour and her husband Donald.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crewel work, counted cross stich, reading and walking on the trail with her husband. She was always active in each church she attended, Berry Long in Philadelphia, PA, Calvary Memorial in Willow Grove PA and Cornerstone in Inverness FL.
A memorial service to celebrate her life well lived will be held at her church Cornerstone Baptist Church 1100 W. Highland Blvd., Inverness, FL at 10:00 AM on Saturday October 3, 2015. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home. The family requests no flowers as there will be no grave side service. Donations in lieu of flowers to Citrus County Hospice or your favorite charity.
