LTC (Army, Ret) Martin Marvin Ford, 88, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., entered into rest in Tucson, Ariz., on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015.
Memorial services will be on Sept. 26, 2015, at 9:30 a.m. at Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in the committal shelter, with full military honors.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hatfield Funeral Home.

Marty was born March 3, 1927, to Erick and Anna (Stueland) Ford in DeKalb, Illinois.
Education was an important part of his life. Marty graduated from St. Olaf College and Luther Theological Seminary. In addition, he received a master's degree in sacred theology from Yale University and a Master of Science degree in guidance and counseling from Long Island University in New York.
Marty's chosen vocation was serving as a Lutheran clergyman. He served parishes for 26 years and was an Army chaplain for 32 years. He was a WWII veteran and later served two tours in Vietnam. At retirement, he was the post chaplain (Lt. Col.) on Fort Wainwright.
Marty cared deeply about his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, to whom he was married for 67 wonderful years; his sister, Bernice Moore, of Florida; six children: Martha Le Drew (Tim) of Canada, David Magnuson-Ford (Heidi) of Canada, Becky Kopp (Tim) of Washington, Jordan Ford (Kathy) of Minnesota, Marybeth Barrett (Don) of Utah, and Betsy Retterer (Jeff) of Alaska and Washington; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Erick J. and Anna Ford; his brother, Einar; and two infant siblings.
Marty enjoyed bowling, fishing, RVing, and spending time with family and friends. He lived life with vigor, and we will miss him more than words can say.
