DERR, Ruth Genevieve, 90, of Alpena, died Monday, September 21, 2015 at Sunshine Gardens AFC.
Ruth was born July 16, 1925 in Detroit to William and Elizabeth (Helps) Trelfa. She married Clarence Derr in Detroit on April 16, 1945. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Ruth loved to spend time with her family, paint beautiful pictures, go bowling, and crochet. She and Clarence loved to travel all over the US which enabled her spoon collection to include spoons representing all 50 states. Ruth was a member of First United Presbyterian Church and the Rebekah’s. She leaves a great legacy with her large family and many friends.
Surviving are her loving husband of 70 years, Clarence, two daughters; Bonnie (Howard) Minton of Alpena, Pamela (Hugh) Howard of Mancelona, MI, a daughter-in-law, Mary Jane (Roger) Jensen of Gladstone, MI, seven grandchildren; Tamyra, Tina, Amy, Hillary, Erin, Kelly, Scott, 15 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson and a sister, Muriel Steemsma of Harrison Twp., MI. She was preceded in death by a son, Phillip in 1969, one sister and seven brothers.
