Clarion Man Dies At 79
Clarion - Nathaniel H. Benninger, 79, of 72 West Main Street in Clarion, died in Oil City Hospital, Friday, at 5:45 a.m. Mr. Benninger was born in Venango County, June 24, 1877. His father was Marcus Benninger. He was a retired foreman for UNG (United Natural Gas) and belonged to the following organizations: F & AM No. 710 in Oil City, Lodge of Perfection in New Castle, New Castle Consistory, Zem Zem Shrine at Erie, BPOE 110 in Franklin and the Odd Fellows at Hendersonville. Mr. Benninger was a member of the Methodist church. Surviving are his wife, Allie Dunham Masters; a daughter, Mrs. Alberta Haskell of Clarion; a son, Clyde Benninger of Coudersport, Pa.; four grandchildren, William and Todd Haskell and Diana and Clyde Benninger, Jr., all of Clarion. He is also survived by four step-children. They are Leona Masters, Clarion, Edna Hartle, Clarion, Robert Masters, Bradford, and Harry Masters of Lackawanna, New York. Other survivors are four brothers, Samuel Benninger of Kane, R. E. Benninger of Oil City, Jeff Benninger of Sykesville, and James Benninger of Middlesex, Pa.; and two sisters, Mrs. Harry Milford of Reno and Mrs. R. L. Clark of Oil City. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Kier Funeral Home in Clarion. Rev. Ralph Richardson, officiating. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery in Oil City.
