Geneva F. Ashworth, 90
PORTLAND - Geneva F. Ashworth, longtime resident of Westbrook, died peacefully on a beautiful summer day, Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015. Gen had been suffering from dementia and aphasia for several years and passed away from complications under the loving care of the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

Gen was born on March 8, 1925, in Portland, the only child of Henry Frank and A. Maude Stokes. She graduated from Westbrook High School and Westbrook Jr. College. Gen worked at S.D. Warren Company for 30 years in the research laboratory as a research communicator coordinator.
Gen loved to entertain the family's many friends. She enjoyed making lobster newburg for her guests, complete with fine china and glassware, candles and of course, flowers. She was an accomplished knitter and seamstress, often working late at night to finish a dress or sweater she had promised her daughter could wear to school the next day. Gen was active in the Women's Guild at her church of 69 years, St. Luke's Cathedral. Often she was seen setting up for coffee hour in the parish hall. She enjoyed working and contributing to the guild fairs and suppers.

Gen and her husband of 69 years, Bob, looked forward to 20 years of winter vacations in Siesta Key, Fla. They would travel there to spend time with their friends enjoying the beach, cookouts and glorious sunsets. Bermuda was also a favorite place of theirs to vacation. Summertime weekends were enjoyed with family and friends at Ferry Beach, Kennebunk Beach, and Sebago Lake State Park. Every spring the family loved visiting many family members in Pennsylvania.

Gen is survived by her husband Robert Ashworth; and her daughter Jane Ashworth Nobert, both of Portland. She is also survived by her granddaughter Lindsay Holden and her husband Rick Wood of Dayton, and her grandson Tyler Holden of Gorham. She was blessed to love a great-granddaughter Quinn, and a soon to be born great-grandson. Gen is also survived by her sister-in-law Rhonda Ferrier of Philipsburg, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at St. Luke's Cathedral, 143 State St., Portland, on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Portland. Funeral arrangements are in the care of
