"A Mason's Mason!": Grand Master Sid Cornelius Dorris III (Past Grand Master, State of Tennessee)

Julian H. Pettitt Jr., 81, of Athens, died Monday, March 22, 2010, at his residence.
A native of Monroe County, and a resident of McMinn County for most of his life, he was a son of the late Julian Heath Pettitt Sr. and Beulah Runyon Pettitt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Barefield Pettitt, on Dec. 24, 2002; and one brother, Billy Gene Pettitt.
He was an employee of Shields Electronics and Jones Printing. He was a 50-year member and past master of Meridian Sun Lodge 50. He was also a member of York Rite, where he was a past Grand Lodge Lecturer and served on the Board of Custodians and KYCH. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Ricky McKeehan of Athens; three grandchildren, Cole, Cade and Corbin McKeehan; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Beuna Mae "Boots" Rowland of Athens, Blanche McKinney of Chattanooga, and Judy Ann and Jerry King of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
Masonic services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Masonic Order conducting the service.
