Roland was the oldest child and son of Jonathan Evans "John" AMOLD and wife Lydia E. HOLE.

Roland married Nell Florence COWAN on October 17, 1905 in Vermilion Co, IL, daughter of William Bruce COWAN and wife Emily NEWLIN, both also of Vermilion County, Illinois.

Roland served honorably in Company C, 1st Fla. Regiment Volunteer Infantry under Capt. J. M. Bradshaw during the Spanish-American War. He was a bugler.

Roland and Nell had only two children: daughter Elizabeth Florence AMOLD (my husband's grandmother) and son Robert William "Bob" AMOLD.
