Alfreda Louise Brown was born September 6, 1910 in Russell, Kansas to Alfred and Tillie Lewis and died June 3 in the Hadley hospital in Hays, Kansas.
She received her elementary and high school education in Gove, and attended college in Hays and Manhattan. After graduating from high school, she taught in Gove County. She also served as Clerk of the District Court of Gove County and as Bookkeeper for the Coberly Feedyards.
Throughout her life she served within the framework of her church, especially as an officer in the earlier Womens Society of Christian Service and the present United Methodist Women. She was District Treasurer eight years and Conference Treasurer for four years.
She was married to Fordie H. Brown, June 11, 1933, in Dighton and was a member of the Gove United Methodist Church with her husband.
She is survived by her husband, Fordie Brown of the home; sisters, Maryann Blackwill of ElSegundo, Calif., and Laura McWilliams of Quinter, Kans.; Brothers, Luther Lewis of Banning, Calif., Gorden Lewis of Big Bear City, Calif., and Bill Lewis of Wilmette, Ill.
