Mary Arlene Boss was born May 2, 1908 on a farm north of Abilene, KS in the Buckeye community and died August 16, 1987 at her daughter's home in Republic Missouri. Her parents were Amos and Myrtle Sword. She joined the Church of the Brethren at an early age. She moved to Gove County Kansas in 1924. She taught school and was married on Dec. 24, 1939 to Elzie Dale Boss. They lived in Coloado and Kansas but spent most all of their married life in Gove, KS. After Arlene moved to Gove, she transfered her membership to Gove Methodist Church in 1945 and was a very active member in all church organizations there. She was also active in the community organizations such as PTA, EHU, and Friendship Club. In 1983 she moved to Republic, Missouri to be closer to her daughter because of failing health. She made her home with her daughter, Ardis and family until the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, John Dale Sword, and her husband Elzie Dale Boss on March 7, 1981.
She leaves to mourn a daughter and family, Bill and Ardis Bareis and their children, Brenda and Todd Bledsoe, Carol and Jeff Forrest, Steven and Robin; a son and family, Elvin and Janet Boss and their children, Eric, Genny and Carri. Her sisters Dorothy Junkin, New Castle, PA., and Evelyn Henderson, Sedalia, MO. and many other friends and relatives. She will be greatly missed by all.
