Leo J. Beyer, 70, Santa Monica, Ca., formerly of St. Joseph, Mo., died Saturday, June 15, 1996, at a hospital in Santa Monica.

Mr. Beyers had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service for about 25 years before retiring.

Born and reared in St. Joseph, he resided in Santa Monica for 40 years. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School in St. Joseph, and served in the Marine Corps during World War II, and the Korean War.

Mr. Beyers was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph; and two sisters, Lucille Mayse and Mary Ann Olszewski.

Surviving: two sons, Leo Jr., and John, both of California; two daughters, Suzy Beyers, California, and Diane Beyers, Colorado; four brothers, John and Paul, both of California, Richard, Farmington, Minn., and Albert, Bristol, Wisc.; and a sister, Olive Martin, St. Joseph, Mo.

A memorial service held in Santa Monica.
The body was cremated.
