ANCAR John Romano Ancar, Sr., a life long resident of New Orleans, LA, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at age 83. Husband of 55 years to Mae Edmonds Ancar. Son of the late Lillian Rillieux Ancar and Bienville Ancar, Sr. Father of John R. Ancar. Jr. (Angelina), Thaddeus J. Ancar, David M. Ancar Sr. (Allison), Paul G. Ancar, Majella Ancar Sutton (Elliott) and Maureen Ancar-Angel (Xavier) and the late infant Michael Ancar. Brother of Gloria Flot (Anthony), Alvin Ancar (Marion), Mildred Seiss (Carl), Eleanora Ancar, Elsie Derbigny and Dorothy Williams (Riley). Brother-in-law of Ethel Ancar and Vertner Woods. Predeceased by 3 brothers: Bienville Jr., Earl Sr. and Richard Ancar, and 1 sister, Noella Wiltz. Sisters-in-law: Helen Ancar, and Shirley Ancar; brothers-in-law: Blaine Derbigny and Leo Wiltz. Also survived by 14 grandchildren: Melissa, Nicole, Jeanne, David Jr., Jeremy, Cydney, Courtney, Casey, Cassidey Ancar, Megan, Ashley, Lacey Sutton, Caitlin
and Marc Barnes Jr., a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. John was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He worked for many years as an upholsterer for Kohlmaier & Kohlmaier Upholsters. Relatives, friends and employees of Liberty Bank & Trust Co, United States 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, Social Security Administration, LA Dept. of Health & Hospital-Office of Public Health, St. Mary's Academy, Xavier Prep and St. Augustine are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 21, 2011 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, 1835 St. Roch Ave., New Orleans, La. Visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m. Rev. R. Tony Ricard, celebrant.

Interment: St. Roch #2 Cemetery. Services
