Daughter of George and Lucetta Conklin Howard. She was born in Mahaska County, Iowa

Mary was married to Joel M. Reed on January 21, 1875 in Mahaska County, Iowa. Joel passed away in 1889.

Children found on familysearch.org were Cora Pearl (married Joelin Jennings 7 Sep 1903 in Jasper County, Iowa), George W., Lulu Abeline (married George Vanderzyl), Myra Edna (married John Morris 4 May 1901), Joel Earl and Charles.

The 1900 US Census shows that Mary was married to James E. Wheeler (born Sept 1840 in New York). He is listed as head of family with step-children, Grace Reed 19, Myra Reed 18, Lulu Reed 16, Joel Reed 13 and Charles Reed 11.
