She attended Salida public schools, graduating from Salida High School in 1970.
She was preceded in death by a son, Aaron Douglas Aikin; and her father, William S. Dameron, a longtime Salida resident.
Survivors include her sons Carter Aikin of Hastings, Neb., Taylor Aikin of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Randol Aikin of Boston, Mass.; their father, Dr. Jack Aikin of Denver; her mother, Niki Dameron-Smith and stepfather, Dr. Edwin Smith, of Denver and Salida; sister, Kimberly Dameron Gipson; brothers, Gregg and Mark Dameron; grandsons, Douglas and Luke Aikin; and many other family members and friends.
Memorial services were held in Texas at the time of her death.
Arrangements were with Beck Funeral Home of Round Rock, Texas.
