Allan B. Akens

A lifetime of service that started December 1, 1961 ended October 4, 2015 in Waxahachie, TX. Allan B to his grandmother Boo-Boo, Uncle Allan to eleven nephews and nieces, the Boss to some and friend to a lot of people, passed from this life.

Born in Abilene, he lived his life serving others through the funeral industry. This ministry helped many people in their most vulnerable times, and he did it to his utmost, both personally and professionally.

Allan graduated from Ranger High School in 1980 and the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in 1984. He started his service at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home and served at many others throughout the area, including homes in Waco and Temple. The number of family’s lives he touched is at least in the hundreds and maybe thousands. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service Allan Akens Scholarship Fund so that he will continue to touch lives.

Allan is survived by the love of his life, Linnea and his “Cowboy sidekick” Parker; three sisters, Annette (Eric) Miller, Karen (Glenn) Thomson and Naomi (Thomas) Clements and aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends too numerous to count. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Shirley Akens.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5PM to 8PM Saturday, October 10, 2015 in the chapel of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 2PM Sunday, October 11, 2015 in the chapel of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home with Eric Miller officiating. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery.
