Darlene Newman, age 74, longtime resident of Two Rivers, found peace & comfort with God Saturday afternoon, October 3, 2015 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, with her son, Stephen at her side. Darlene was born in Two Rivers on December 31, 1940, a daughter of Ralph J. Bodwin and the late Frances K. (Swada) Bodwin. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic Grade School, and was a 1959 graduate of Washington High School in Two Rivers. Throughout the years, Darlene worked as a cook and kitchen helper for several local restaurants, nursing homes, and hospitals, as well as being a homemaker and mother for her two children.Darlene loved reading, especially prayer books, prayer cards, and bible passages. She spent countless hours finding new prayer books, and enjoyed frequent visits to the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help, in Champion, WI and visiting the nuns who now reside in Denmark. She was a collector of Saint Statues; she enjoyed caring for her flowers/plants; enjoyed taking rides and stopping to eat with family; and had a huge heart, especially for her family and grandkids. Survivors include her children: Stephen Newman of Two Rivers, and Kathryn (David) Bornhofen of Montgomery, MN; her special grandchildren, Rose and Eldon; her father, Ralph Bodwin of Two Rivers; one sister, Lola (Kurt) Ruthmansdorfer of Champaign, IL; and one niece & nephew: Thomas (Elizabeth) Ruthmansdorfer, and Ellen (Jerrad) Zimmerman. Her mother, Frances Bodwin preceded her in death on Jan.13, 2011.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2015 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd. Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Tom Reynebeau, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.
