Mrs. Caroline Miller, a resident of this county for half a century, passed away last Saturday, April 16, at her home in this city at the age of 81 years. She had been in failing health for several months.
Mrs. Miller was born in Borkendorf, Germany, on January 19, 1856. She grew to womanhood there and was married to August Miller in Germany. They came to America in 1882 and first located at Glencoe, where Mr. Miller followed the carpenter trade for six years. Then they came to Belle River township and located on a farm where they lived until Mr. Miller's death in 1919. The next year Mrs. Miller and her daughter, Mrs. John Kraemer, came to Alexandria, where she made her home until her death. Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Miller, five of whom survived their parents: Max Miller of Hammer, N.D.; Anna (Mrs. John Kraemer) of this city; John Miller of Warwick, N.D.; Wm. Miller of Liseaux, Saskatchewan; Mary (Mrs. Math Housen) of Lebanon, Ore. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Amelia (Mrs. Farrell) of Emarado, N.D.; twenty grandchildren and seven great grandchildren two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Grundei, Osakis and Mrs. John Konzak of Sauk Centre. Mrs. Miller was a faithful member of the St. Nicholas church in Belle River and of St. Mary's church here, and a member of the Christian Mother's society. She had a very kindly disposition and she will be missed by a wide circle of warm friends. Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning at 8:30 from the residence and at 9:00 o'clock from St. Mary's church; Rev. Wm. A. Renner officiating. Burial was in the St. Nicholas cemetery at Belle River. The Pallbearers were: John Miller, Nick volk, tom Brown, Henry Kraemer, Sylvester Hanse and Leonard Hendrickson.
