Fischer, Jerry E.

Jerry E. Fischer, age 62, a Manitowoc resident, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015.

Jerry was born on March 7, 1953 in Manitowoc, son of the late William and Sue (Tyson) Fischer. He first worked for Manitowoc Engineering and later for ACE Building. Jerry moved to Blythe California to be closer to his children. He worked various jobs in Blythe, his favorite was spending time with his grandchildren. He returned to Manitowoc each summer to escape the desert heat and to help friends restore old cars. When he wasn't "tinkering" in the garage or searching for parts he was on a drive in one of his many collector cars. He enjoyed helping his family and friends with projects big and small. Jerry loved the outdoors and nature. He had a huge heart and was always willing to help. While he was a frugal man, he helped others without expecting anything in return. Most importantly he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his son: Jerry Jr. "JJ" and Melissa Fischer, Blythe, CA; his daughter: Jamie and Chris Pierce, Blythe, CA; four grandchildren: Zachary and Hailey McCallum, Clay and Alyssa Pierce; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Bill (Kay) Fischer, Appleton, Mike (special friend: Melissa Leigh) Fischer, Manitowoc, Cindy Fischer, Manitowoc; seven sisters and two brothers-in-law: Grace (Barry) Mumper, Kailua, HI, Carol Miller, Green Bay, Diane Thiers, Jan Van Eycke, Linda Stuelke (special friend: Steve Bonin), Kathy (Bob) Klein, Penny Fischer, all of Manitowoc; the mother of his children: Penny Miles; and extended family: Hummer Van Eycke. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Lee, Larry and Daniel Fischer; three brothers-in-law: Dale Miller, Don Thiers and Scott Stuelke; and one niece: Lisa Miller.

Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and a memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc.
