Donna J. Thoe, 82, of Chippewa Falls, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, after complications from a blood clot in her brain.

She was born Sept. 16, 1933, in Cumberland, to Clara (Melster) and John “Jack” Nesvold. She lived on a farm with her brothers and sisters. When she was in the fifth grade the family moved into town. This is where Donna met the love of her life, Stanley Thoe. On Oct. 16, 1954, Donna and Stan were united in marriage. The couple settled in Chippewa Falls, in 1973, where Donna spent her life loving and caring for children. The families of these children became part of her family.

Donna was a faithful and devoted member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where she was active in the ladies aide and was a member of the Altar Guild for many years. She and Stan also enjoyed many family gatherings at their cabin on Mathews Lake near Minong.

Donna was loving, caring and giving. She was devoted to her family and friends. No one ever left her home hungry. Her faith in the Lord saw her through all her struggles. She never stopped smiling. Her strength inspired many. Grandma Donna will be greatly missed by her family. She has left a big hole in all our hearts. She filled us all with so much love, and we will continue to honor her by keeping our family tightly knit and filled with love. Her beautiful sweet smile lives on in all who knew her.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Tom) Anderson; sons, Jerry Thoe, Mark Thoe, and Eric (Sheila) Thoe; a sister, Mildred “Sis” Hellmann; a brother, John “Bud” (Edna) Nesvold; a sister-in-law, Corrine Thoe; a brother-in-law, Bob Davis; six grandchildren, Shannon Anderson, Tommy Anderson, Andy Thoe, Kaylen Thoe, Lynzie Thoe, Jason Thoe; four great-grandchildren, Austin, Thomas Jay, and Jillian Anderson, and A’mya Thoe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Judy Davis; two brothers, Donald and Robert Nesvold; sisters-in-law, Helen and Joyce Nesvold; brothers-in-law, Paul Hellmann and Hubert Thoe; and her husband, Stan Jan. 4, 2012.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls, with the Rev. Roger Skatrud officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service Friday at the church.

Donna’s family would like to thank Dr. Onuigbo and the staff at London Road Dialysis for all their years of devoted compassion to her. She always felt cared for and listened to. To Rachel, Luci, and Jennifer, the nurses in the CCU and to Tina on the Neuro floor, thank you for your compassion and attentiveness during her final days and hours.
