Carroll Shelton Nunnelley, age 79, of Wellington passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2019.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the Church of Christ with Tom Anderson, retired minister of Memphis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.

Pallbearers are Austin May, Jace Biehl, Ben Hays, Micha Carter, Kyle Janes, Greg Biehl, Collin Hays and David May. Honorary pallbearers are Skippy Duncan, Don Reeves, Jerry Wooldridge, Danny West, Kirby Campbell, Andy Henard, Troy Thomason, Benny Wiebe, Henry Wiebe and Jack Neeley.

Carroll was born on September 20, 1940 in Wellington, to Shelton and Polly Weaver Nunnelley.

He married Mollie Hoffman on October 20, 1962 in Dozier; she preceded him in death in 2006. He later married Sandra Carter Fires on March 6, 2009 in Pflugerville. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1959, received an associate degree from Clarendon College on 1961 and earned his bachelor's degree from West Texas State University in 1963. He came back home to do his student teaching in Wellington, taught a year a Dodson and returned to Wellington to teach and coach all sports at Wellington Junior High. He also served as an assistant football coach in high school. He retired in 1973 to begin farming fulltime with his father and retired from farming in 2009. Carroll was also preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother Ronnie Nunnelley and by a grandson Jarred Biehl. He is survived by his wife Sandra of Wellington; 5 daughters Lynna Janes and her husband Kyle of Shamrock, Carla Biehl and her husband Greg of Clyde, Janna May and her husband David of Allen, Paula Hays and her husband Collin and Connie Nunnelley both of Amarillo; a step daughter Stacey Fires of Lubbock; 2 step sons Wiley Fires and his wife Katherine of Shamrock and Jeff Fires of Wellington; 12 grandchildren Magen Ann Carter and her husband Micha, Malanee Ann Janes, Jace Shelton Biehl, Macy May, Austin May, Ben Hays, Mollie Kay Hays, Ethan Fires, Eli Fires, Rance Fires, Christopher Fires and Alexander Fires; and 2 great grandchildren Jessica and Jackson Carter.
