Charles Lockard, 69, of Oskaloosa, passed away of Heart complications, Sunday, September 27, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

Charles Albert Lockard, son of Arthur D. and Hattie(Hedlund)Lockard, was born November 27, 1945, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was a 1964 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. His working career began at Fareway Grocery Store in Oskaloosa during his high school years. He went on to drive a semi-truck for one year for Super-Sweet; after which he joined the Oskaloosa Police Department, where he worked for 11 1/2 years. He left the department in 1984 and in June 1985, he began working for Montezuma Manufacturing in material planning division, where he remained until his retirement.

Chuck enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid bow hunter. He enjoyed a quiet life and had a worm greeting that always made you feel welcome.

He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Mayfield and husband, Eric of Carthage, MO and a granddaughter, Jackalynn who attends University of Central Missouri; a brother, Keith and wife, Mildred of New London, IA and a sister, Cindy and husband, Steve Reeves of Fremont, IA; six nieces and nephews and nine great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Lockard, a son, Bryan Lockard, and a sister, Jane Van Der Heiden.

His family wishes to thank all medical professionals who were there to help Chuck in his time of need, and those who showed kindness, prayers and touched his life.

As was his wish, Chuck body has been cremated. A private graveside memorial service will be held at Forest Cemetery where his ashes will be inurned by his son,
Bryan.
