Frances Magdalen Sass, age 100, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Pine Haven Christian Home where she was a resident for the past fifteen years.
She was born September 9, 1915 in Sheboygan to Anton and Frances (Podbrager) Machtig. On December 28, 1935 Frances and Walter Sass were united in marriage at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. The couple then made their home in Kohler. Walter preceded her in death on October 22, 1987.
Frances was a member of St. John Evangelist Catholic Parish in Kohler and the St. Ann Society. She was an excellent homemaker, a great cook, and gifted quilt maker. She always had a kind word for everyone and put her family and friends first. She will be missed but her words of wisdom will live on for her family - "Don't worry, be happy!"
Frances is survived by two sons, Robert P. (Frances) Sass of Cedar Grove and Richard L. (Deborah) Sass of Sheboygan; one daughter, Mary E. (Richard L.) Ashley of Fitchburg, WI; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Rev. Robert Lotz, Pastor of St. John Evangelist Catholic Church in Kohler, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in Kohler.
