Milo S. Martin Laid at Rest

Milo S. Martin was born in Whitley County, Indiana, on the 17th Day of May 1848, There he grew to manhood, and in the year 1869 was united in marriage with Miss Emmaline Young, a union that was continued for a period of 43 years, ending in the month of August, 1912.

To this union there was given five children, all of whom are still living, and all permitted to be present at this service. The names of the children are - Mrs. Eva Hughes, Lawton, Iowa; Mrs. Minnie Essig, of Heartstrong, Colorado; Mrs Maud Hedge, of Red Cloud; Archie F. Martin, of Hastings, Nebraska; and John L. Martin of Red Cloud.

About seven years after the decease of his wife Mr Martin was united in marriage with Mrs Annie Bomford, whose loving and efficient ministry during his long period of suffering proved a blessing beyond measure.

In the year 1892 Mr Martin came to Nebraska, residing for about a year at Guide Rock, then coming to the vicinity of Red Cloud, where the home remained until three years ago when the family moved to Colorado, there, until recently living upon a ranch. A few months ago they took up residence in the town of Vernon, on account of Mr Martin's declining health.

In Early life Mr Martin bacame a member of the Baptist Church, transferring his connection to the Baptist Church of Red Cloud, where his membership has since remained. He was never demonstrative of religious matters but was uniformly true to the word of God as he understood it, having little patience with those who denied or sought to explain away the force of the truth he so fully believed. He was very conversant with the police and practices of his church, and deplored any departure from established forms and customs. The years of trial through which he passed, and the extreme suffering of the last year exerted a refining influence upon his Christian live and he gave abundant testimony that he was ready to depart to be with Christ. The end came on the afternoon of the 16th day June, 1922, his age being 74 years and 30 days.

In addition to the surviving widow and children as stated, there are present two brothers of the deceased, Warren W. Martin and Stephen A. Martin of Columbia City, Indiana. They have come a long way given the expression to their filial love and regard, and we who so well knew the departed husband, father, and brother, join with them in the expression of our sympathy.

The funeral service was held at the Baptist church Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. I.W. Edson assisted by Rev. F.J. Newland.
