Obituary for Edward Oliver Daniel Jr.

Edward Oliver Daniel, Jr., 95, of Hawkinsville, Ga. passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Summerhill Senior Living Community in Perry, Ga.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Hawkinsville First Baptist Church with Dr. Don McClung and Mr. Tommy Dawson officiating. Burial will be in Orange Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Daniel was a native of Pulaski County, Ga. and a member of the Hawkinsville First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and teacher for several years. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Middle Georgia E.M.C. for many years. Oliver was a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Rowena Daniel, brother, Lucious H. Daniel, granddaughter, Brandice Dawson Dupree and son-in-law Eddie Rhodes.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Elwanda Bennett Daniel of Hawkinsville, Ga.; daughters, Rose D. Rhodes, Gloria D. Dawson (Rodney), all of Hawkinsville, Ga., Priscilla D. Harrington (John) of Eastman, Ga.; sisters, Annie D. Dawson of Hawkinsville, Ga., Mary D. Andrews of Macon, Ga.; 8 grandchildren, Lori Hamilton (Ed) of Columbus, Ga., Tiffany Nipper of Hawkinsville, Ga., Paul Dawson (Rebecca) of Fitzgerald, Ga., Jenna D. Baldwin (Richard) of Atlanta, Ga., Kaitlin Harrington, Kelli Harrington, Kendel Harrington, Preston Harrington, all of Eastman, Ga. and 8 great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Woodson Daniel and John Henry Anderson. Active pallbearers will be Paul Dawson, Preston Harrington, Danny Dawson, Wilsie Wright, Trent Wright, Hubert Bennett, Jr., Larry Bennett and Tony Bennett.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Daniel residence.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Hawkinsville First Baptist Church, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the donor’s choice.
