He was born in Hollansburg, Ohio, March 14, 1914, to George and Susan Stump Richards. He was a farmer. He trained and raised Standard Bred Horses and was an original member of the Drake County Harness Association.
Survivors include one son, Duane Richards, Palestine, Ohio; two grandsons, Ron and Jeff Richards; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Rema Richards, who died in 1988; two brothers, Harley and Earl Richards; three sisters, Ertie Moore, Pearl Heck and Norene Noggle.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. (Indiana time) Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond, Ind., with Rev. Clyde Hylton officiating.
Burial will be in Abington Cemetery.
