Aaron Dean Frei, 42, of Ammon, ID, died Wednesday afternoon, October 14, 2015 at his home.

He was born October 24, 1972, in Idaho Falls, ID to Ben Albert Frei and Mona Nadine Ricks Frei. He is the youngest of their 12 children. Aaron was born with special needs due to complications of hydrocephaly and other handicaps which gave him many challenges in this life. Despite those struggles, he has lived a rich and fulfilling life, and will be dearly missed by those who loved him so much.

Aaron attended many schools in the Idaho Falls area and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1993. He spent his whole life attending developmental programs including the Joshua D. Smith Foundation, the Adventure Center, and the Development Workshop where he was employed for many years.

Aaron was a man of few words, but when he said something it was definitely memorable. He was an avid watcher of game shows. He loved bowling, oldies music, dancing, and singing. He was a Special Olympics athlete and an active participant in Special Needs Explorer Post 559 and the Special Needs Adult Program. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Though we are saddened by the loss of our youngest brother, we know that he has finally been released from his imperfect body that has held him hostage all these years. He is at peace and surely welcomed into the loving arms of his Mother and Father who preceded him in death.

Survivors include his eleven siblings; sisters, Judy Infanger (Tom), Peggy Cress (Dale), Carol Hatch (Ron), Kathy Holverson (Blaine) and Ruth DeLand all of Idaho Falls, ID, and Amy Jones (Randall) of Pleasant Grove, UT; brothers, Ben Wendell Frei (Aurelia) of Provo, UT, Michael Frei of Sacramento, CA, Kent Frei (Tanya) of Snowflake, AZ, John Frei (Diane) of Burlington, NC, and Scott Frei (Jana) of Rochester, MN; 64 nieces and nephews, and many grand nieces and grand nephews. Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, a niece (Stephanie Cress) and two nephews (Christopher DeLand, and Kade Frei).

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015 (which would have been Aaron’s 43rd birthday) at the LDS Church located at 1100 Tiebreaker Drive in Ammon, with Bishop Court McCammon officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2015, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls, and 10-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church prior to the funeral.

The family would like to express appreciation to the amazing people at the Development Workshop, the Joshua D. Smith Foundation, the Adventure Center, Explorer Post 559, the Special Needs Adult Program, and countless other coordinators and specialists who have greatly enriched Aaron’s life through their selfless service and love.
