" SS Whitgift, built ......was a British steamer of 4397 tons.
On April 20th, 1916, Whitgift, on a voyage from Almeria to Tyne with a cargo of ore, was sunk by the German submarine U-67 (Hans Nieland), southwest of Ushant (Ouessant).
32 persons were lost."
