Having lived much of his life in Southwick and raised his family there, he was buried on 14 July 1875 in the burial ground of Southwick Holy Trinity.
A grave marker was erected "to his memory by his fellow workmen, as a testimonial of his advocacy of their rights, and his sterling integrity."
