At age 17, Frank left Loudon High School at Chirstmas break in his senior year to join the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Lt. Colonel during his 24-year distinguished career. After a full day's work, going to school at night, he earned his high school diploma, a BA in government and history at Texas Christian University in 1966, a Masters (MS) in management at George Washington University in 1970, a doctorate in business administration at George Washington University in 1979. Frank received numerous military accolades and medals including, Army of Occupation, Air Medal 1st - 6th oak leaf clusters - Transportation Corp., Bronze Star - TC U.S. Army, Meritorious Service, Vietnam Service with two Bronze Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign; Korean Order of National Security Merit and the Legion of Merit. Frank loved flying and was certified in more than 20 aircrafts. While stationed at Bell, Frank helped invent a quick-setting "helicopter pad" widely used in the military. He served in Germany, Korea, Vietnam, Alabama, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Virginia, New Mexico, Kansas, and Texas, which is where he and his wife, Faye, retired from the Army in 1974.
