Leon was the son of the late Arthur Batson and Jane Lewis Batson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served two tours in Vietnam. He was employed for 20 years with Ideal Cement and for 25 years with General Electric in Castle Hayne. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Batson; daughter, Terrie Batson Newkirk and husband, Curtis; son, Anthony Charles Batson and wife, Lorrie; grandson, Kameron Scott King; and two granddaughters, Kaitlin Michelle Newkirk and Ashley Nicole Batson, all of Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made in Leon's memory to The Carousel Center, 2714 Market St., Wilmington, NC 28403.
