William N. Lichter Jr., 82, Of New Lenox, IL formerly of Deckerville, MI; passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2015.

Beloved husband of the late Shirley nee Palka; loving father of William Lichter III, Martin (Donna) Lichter, Roxann (Larry) Apathy, Victoria (John) Naples, Katrine (Vance) Taylor, Pauline (Kurt) Kreis, DeeAnn (Roger) Davis and George (Patricia) Lichter; cherished grandfather of Jessica, Martin, Cynthia, Curtis, Stephen, Zane, Neva, Kaleigh, Kurt, Jared, Ryne, Caileen, Cooper, Kieran, and William; and great-grandfather of Elliot, Harper, Sophia, and Anthony; dear brother of Sandra (Dave) Whitley.

He was preceded in death by his parents William Sr. and Mary Lichter.

William was a U.S. Marine Korean War Veteran.

He was a member of the Will County Police Chiefs Association, Chicago Railway Police & Special Agents Association, and Illinois Chief of Police Association.

Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd. New Lenox IL 60451 on Monday, October 19th, 2015 from 3 to 8 P.M.

Funeral service Tuesday, October 20th, 2014 with prayers at 9:00 A.M. to St. Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox for a 9:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association , 208 S. LaSalle St., Suite 1500, Chicago, IL 60604 or the American Cancer Society , P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 would be appreciated.
