Another Pioneer Passed Away

Mrs. Hannah E. Hoyt Kingscott passed peacefully away at her home in Bear Lake on Tuesday morning last, after a prolonged illness of arterial sclerosis with cystitis and neuritis. The funeral was held in the Baptist church yesterday afternoon with the beautiful ritualistic services of the order of the Eastern Star and the sermon was preached by Rev. A. A. Rose.
Mrs. Kingscott was born Oct. 23, 1845 at South Norwalk, Conn. And the family moved to Macomb County, Michigan a few years later. She was married to Wm. G. Kingscott in 1866. They came to Manistee County in September of the same year, and her home has been here ever since. Six children were born to them of whom four are still living; Mrs. May Bowling, Edgar J., Ralph H., and Walter J. Kingscott who with her two sisters, Mrs. Geo. B. Walker and Mrs. Tharrett of Warren and one brother, Wallace Hoyt of Detroit, remain to mourn their loss. Her husband died in 1893. Mrs. Kingscott was a devoted and conscientious wife and mother, a kind neighbor and friend and a consistent member of the M. E. church and of the order of the Eastern Star and she will long be held in loving remembrance by those who knew her.
