Wikitree iD: Anderson-24702
He married Elizabeth Gray at Cambridge, Massachusetts on June 30, 1866 and had 7 children.
They lived at Gloucester, Essex, Massachusetts before moving to Vancouver, BC.
Captain James Lyle Anderson (1841-1915) was a mariner, a captain of vessels on both the east and west coasts. On the east coast, he sailed off the coasts of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland in the cod fishery. As would be the case when there is competition, he was involved in disputes, such as the dispute between Canadian and American Fisherman at Aspee Bay, Cape Breton.
It was in Nova Scotia that he and his daughter, Mary Catherine, made the acquaintance of one Edward Albert Byron Lipsett who founded Jones Tent and Awning Ltd., in Vancouver. In later years, Anderson nearly lost his life in the sinking of a boat off the coast of British Columbia and was the only one to survive.
