Frieda Katherine Benninghove(1926 - 2015)

Frieda Katherine Benninghove of Jeffersonville Frieda Katherine (Freimuth) Benninghove, age 89, a resident of Jeffersonville since 1954, and beloved wife for 53 years of the late Norman H. Benninghove Jr., passed away October 20, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Frieda was the daughter of the late Anna (Buchholtz) and Gustav H. Freimuth of Havertown, PA, and the mother of Kathy M. Gross of Northampton, PA, Alan M. Benninghove of Mechanicsburg, PA, and the late Reverend David M. Benninghove of Hatfield, PA.

Previously, in the 1940's she was a secretary with the firm of Albert M. Greenfield of Philadelphia. Later she was a legal secretary for 19 years with the firm of Wright, Manning, Kinkead, & Oliver of Norristown.

Frieda was a talented and dedicated singer with the church choirs of Friedens Lutheran Church in Philadelphia, St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ardmore, and Grace Lutheran Church in Norristown, where she remained a member. At Grace, she was also known for her theatrical and humorous productions. Frieda was a selftaught and talented musician ~ mastering both the piano and guitar.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 23, 1926 and graduated from Kensington High School in 1943, where she was awarded the American Legion Award and designated as the girl with "The Best Sense of Humor," and a girl that "can't be beat ~ a more popular girl you'll never meet." This remained the truth throughout her 89 years of life. Frieda is survived by her daughter, Kathy Gross, son, Alan Benninghove, daughter-in-law, Patricia Benninghove, granddaughter, Melanie Wynter, brother Paul Freimuth, and her nieces and nephews. Her loving presence will be missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to share in Frieda's Life Celebration on Monday October 26, from 9:30 to 10:50 AM at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton 200 West Germantown Pike, 610-277-7000. Her funeral service will begin at 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Zions.
