A mechanic by trade, Howard worked at Barber Transportation until his retirement.
He is survived by his son, Howard Gene Closson of Denver, Colo; his daughter and son-in-law, Cathie and John Printz, of Wright, Wyo.; and three grandsons, Wade Printz of Vermillion, Austin and Andrew Printz of Wright, Wyo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Myrtle in May 1992, three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City on Wednesday, January 15, from noon until 7 p.m. and then at the church on Thursday for one hour before services.
Services are set for Thursday, January 16, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in New Underwood, with the Reverend Ed Wyatt officiating. Interment will be at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City.
