Raynard R. Kester, 72, of Valparaiso, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 1995.

He was born March 11, 1922, in Hiawatha, West Va., the son of Otis Cecil and Marie (Harman) Kester.

A Valparaiso resident since 1955, he was an instrument repairman at U.S. Steel.

He attended Valparaiso Baptist Church, was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and a member of Charles Pratt Post 94 American Legion.

On Dec. 20, 1949, in Tazewell, Va., he married Shirley Phipps, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Larry (Margene) Kester of Portage; a daughter, Gayla (Bob) Liedtke of Valparaiso; five grandchildren, Mathew,i Megan, Bethany, Katie and Kyle; two brothers, Basil Kester of New York and Buddy Kester of West Virginia; and a sister, Rosemarie Jett of West Virginia.
