EAST PALESTINE — John Anthony Fast, Jr., 65, of 190 Riggs Drive, died at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Essex 1 of Salem.

Mr. Fast was born July 4, 1941 in Washingtonville, a son of the late John A. (Jack) Fast and Dorothy Wilson. He had lived in this area all of his life.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He had been employed as a forklift operator at Roshel Industries, East Palestine and later when it became Tubetech. He retired in 2003 after 30 years service. Mr. Fast also enjoyed bowling, fishing, and golfing.

He is survived by a son; and his life companion, Christine Riggs of East Palestine; and a step brother, Ted Hall of Columbiana.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Clyde "Teddy" Hall.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia, with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
