Bette Lou Murray Spurgeon died peacefully at her home in Wenatchee on August 1, 2015, at the age of 88. Born Bette Lou Padoshek to William and Anne Padoshek of Wenatchee, she lived in Wenatchee until she was 11, when, with her mother, she moved to Los Angeles, CA to pursue a career as a dancer and actress. She performed on such radio shows as Corliss Archer and A Date With Judy. In 1948, she married comedian Ken Murray, and had two girls, Pam and Jane. Bette Lou and Ken resided in Beverly Hills, CA and were married for 40 years, until Ken died in 1988. In 1999, she married Ken Spurgeon of Chelan, WA. They resided in Chelan and Wenatchee and were married for 13 years, until Ken died in 2012.
She is survived by her brother, William Martin Padoshek of Woodland Hills , CA; daughters, Pam Godsick (husband, Jeffrey Godsick) of Beverly Hills and Jane Greene (husband, William Greene) of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Kelli Ormond, Amy Godsick, Sean Godsick, Hank Greene, Trevor Godsick, Joe Greene and Emily Godsick; and great-grandchildren, Katelynn and Jake Ormond.
A private graveside service will be held at the Wenatchee Cemetery. Arrangements are assisted by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee. In recognition of her life-long love of dogs, and particular her sweet canine companion, Kashi, the family has designated the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society www.wenatcheehumane.org for donations in lieu of flowers.
