"The remains of Mrs. Anna Corey were buried in Lone Tree Cemetery at 2:30 this afternoon."
Death notices had been published in both the Telluride and Cheyenne, WY newspapers. Extended family in CO and WY did not claim her remains.
Annie's death as a guest at the Sheridan Hotel in Telluride was ruled accidental. She was morphine dependent for what was described as neuralgic distress and had been under the care of a doctor the prior evening.
Annie was described as well-educated and refined. Her father and uncle (James C. Abney) were pioneers to formative Cheyenne, WY Territory who realized much business success.
Annie had two marriages:
-John C. Burns, a native of Texas, in Cheyenne, 1872
-George Washington Corey, M.D., in Cheyenne, 1885. Corey himself had been a Cheyenne pioneer.
No children have been found for either marriage.
