Edward Harvey O'Neil, 76, of Carp Lake, died Oct. 10, 2014.
Born to Edward and Martha O'Neil of Levering on Aug. 4, 1938, he was one of 14 siblings.
Ed served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam crisis aboard the U.S.
Intrepid from October 1961 until February 1966. Following his tour of duty he sailed the Great Lakes freighters for approximately 10 years. He then worked for Kenville's Cafe until retirement.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David and Jim; sisters, Lorraine Kenville, Thelma Williams and Dorothy Dennis,
He Is survived by sisters, Peggy Warren, Jean Reberg, Mary Sevron, Eileen Blackburn, Alice Taber, Betty Brown, Cathy O’Neil, and one brother, Raymond O’Neil. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, 41 in all, as well as many great-nieces and nephews.
Ed was devoted to family and enjoyed family gatherings and holidays. He loved gardening and time at deer camp with the guys. His piano playing was enjoyed by many thought out the Carp Lake, Mackinaw Community and most recently by friends at the Mackinaw City senior center.
Services took place on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Mackinaw City Bible Church with Pastor Reed Nelson officiating. Burial was at Carp Lake Township Cemetery in Levering.
