Son of Moses Howe Bliss and Eliza Matthews, he married Elizabeth Arnold Young in 1874. They had four daughters,
1. Caroline Wellwood, known throughout her life as Carrie, b. 1875, d. 1942. Never married.
2. Ethel, b. 1877, d. 1966. Never married.
3. Grace Eliza, b. 1879, d. 1941. Never married.
4. Alice Elizabeth Sherman, b. 1881, d. 1952. Never married.

The family residence was at 233 Arnold Street in New Bedford from 1897 on, possibly until 1966 when Ethel, the last surviving sister, died. The house that is currently at that address is described as a cottage built in 1873.

He is listed as #5294 in the "Genealogy of the Bliss family in America from about the year 1550-1880" by John Homer Bliss
