BARBARA J TACKETT
LIMA — Barbara J. Shepherd Alberding Tackett, age 81, passed away October 24, 2015, at 12:30 pm, at the Wyngate Senior Living Community.
Barbara was born November 2, 1933 in Lima, OH, to Floyd and Margaret (Goldsmith) Shepherd who preceded her in death. In 1953 she married Carl Alberding. Carl is deceased. Then on October 16, 1982 she married K. Howard "Howie" Tackett who preceded her in death on February 23, 2014.
Barb was a 1951 graduate of Lafayette-Jackson High School. She was employed by the Ohio Department of Mental Health for thirty years. She had worked at the Lima State Hospital, Oakwood Forensic Center and the Ohio Reformatory for Women. At her retirement, she was the Program Director of Psychiatric at the Allen Correctional Institution.
Barb is survived by 3 daughters; Carla Yetman of Lima, OH, Beverly (Rafael) Bejarano of Arkadelphia, AR and Karen (Peter) Smith of Lima, OH, a sister, Norita (John) Moss of Homosassa, FL, 4 grandsons; Matt (Tracey) Otto of Lima, Curt (Kirsten) Yetman, of Lima, Joshua (Autumn) Cole, of Ada and Jesse Cole of Lima, a granddaughter, Katarina Bejarano of Arkansas, 8 great grandchildren; Devon, Jackson, Carson, Ashton and Addison Cole of Ada, Ross Otto and Lincoln Cole of Lima and Kellan Yetman of Lima. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca (Roger) Thompson.
CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements. At Barb's request there will be no viewing or memorial service. Memorial contributions may be made to MADD or the Wounded Warrior Project. There will be a Celebration of Life and gathering to be held at a later date.
