Dr. Alvin A. Anderson, 84, a pioneer in the dental profession in Venango County and a prominent resident of Emlenton, died at his home on Kerr Avenue, Emlenton, at 10 o'clock Thurdsday morning. He had practiced dentistry for 63 years.
Dr. Anderson was born in Butler County on Sept. 7, 1853, a son of Cyrus Everet Anderson and Ruth Brown Anderson. He removed to Emlenton in 1884 where he took up his practice. He was married 62 years ago.
Besides his widow, Mrs. Amanda Jane Anderson, he is survived by the following children; Grace Anderson, Mrs. Clara Barbour, and Miss Ethel Anderson, all of Emlenton; Mrs. Alice Kerns, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Marguerite Shrader, Kittaning, and Mrs. Ruth Schramm, Sharpsburg. Nine grandchildren and one great grand-child also survive, as well as one sister, Mrs. Eva Stoddart, Butler.
The deceased was a lifelong member of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Emlenton and was active in all its undertakings.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the family home with Rev. J. B. Edwards, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Emlenton Cemetery.
