Turlock resident, Abel A. Romero, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015, just 5 days after his 90th birthday. He was born October 15, 1925 to Ignacio and Virginia Romero in Chavinda, Michoacan, Mexico, the middle child of eight children. He met and married his wife, Juanita, in Mexico and moved to the United States in 1962.

Abel loved to be outdoors and had a passion as a sportsman, hunting deer and fishing, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his family. He was overjoyed when his grandchildren were born and was a kind, caring, and attentive grandfather. Abel also enjoyed cooking and going to the flea market with friends. He was someone you could rely on and was always there to help anyone who needed him.

Abel is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Juanita Romero, and his siblings, Esperanza, Anita, Socorro, and Gabriel. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Saldana, two grandchildren, four great-grandsons, one great-great grandson, and three brothers.

A visitation will be held Thursday, October 29, starting at 1:00 at the Turlock Funeral Home Chapel, with the recitation of the rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held Friday, October 30, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with interment in Turlock Memorial Park.
