"Don's great sense of humor will be sorely missed by all who knew him." Donald Axel Sundvick passed away suddenly on Oct. 28th from heart complications and will be greatly missed by those who loved him. He was born on July 4th, 1938 to Axel and Pearl Sundvick in Kelso, WA and graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1956. Don enlisted in the Air Force in 1959, where he became a jet pilot. After being discharged from the Air Force, he returned to college, graduating in 1968, from Central Washington College. He taught and coached in the Vancouver School District for 29 1/2 years, coaching track and basketball at Mac Jr. High and girl's volleyball and basketball at Columbia River High School. During this time, Don earned a Master's degree from Lewis and Clark. In 1972, he married the love of his life, Nancy Walter of Tacoma. They were married for 43 years and they have two children, Trent and Trudy, both of Vancouver, WA. He is also survived by his beloved grandson, Bradley; his sister, Deanna Sundvick-Egge (Jon) of Kirkland, WA and numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. After retiring, Don worked for the ATC airport terminal services. He was active in the "class of 45" Vancouver veteran's program and enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, sports, camping, and gardening. On Thurs., Nov. 5th, at 10a.m., he will be laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR with full military honors. A service will follow at 1:p.m. at New Heights Church East, 1902 NE 185th Ave., Vancouver, WA 98684
