SOMERS, Conn. -- Axel H. Anderson, 92, beloved husband of Karen (Godard) Anderson, peacefully passed away on October 28, 2015 at his home in Somers, CT. He was born in Hartford, CT to Hildegard & Hjalmar Anderson. He attended the Coast Guard Academy and proudly served on the USS Vance during WWII. He graduated from Western New England College where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He retired after 40 years from Hamilton Standard. He was a charter member of the Enfield Jr. Chamber of Commerce, former member of the Enfield Lions Club and a member of Rockville, CT Elks #1359. He was a lifelong member of the Old Timers Club of Boy Scout troop #29 of West Hartford. He was a member of the Hazardville United Methodist Church and served as Chair of the Board of Trustees, the Administrative Board and the Church Council. For many years he was Lay Representative to annual conference. Axel enjoyed the Wednesday morning coffee time spent with his friends from Hamilton Standard along with the memories of years of golfing with the Living Legends. He also enjoyed the many years of spending winters in AZ but nothing pleased him more than time spent with his family. He was a wonderful father, husband, and friend. He will be sorely missed. Axel was predeceased by his brother, Henrick, step-son David DiBattista and by his first wife Norine Durrin Anderson, the mother of his children. He is survived by his wife, Karen, sons, Paul and wife Diane, Peter and wife Sara, and daughter Lisa Anderson and Jim Albanese. He will be missed by step-son Todd Di Battista and wife Malgorzata, and daughter-in-law, Kathleen DiBattista. He leaves his grandchildren, Caitlyn, Mary, Curtis, Alexa, Elizabeth and Andrew, and great grandchildren, Lailah and Sofia. Calling hours will be held Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT with a memorial service immediately following. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hazardville United Methodist Church - Elevator Fund, 330 Hazard Avenue, Enfield, CT 06082.
