O’BRIEN, MARGARET CALDWELL NOLAN (MARGIE)

Margaret Caldwell Nolan O’Brien, formerly of Spring Glen, Hamden, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2014 in Pompano Beach, Florida. She was born December 27, 1918, the first child of the late Agnes Caldwell and D. Howard Nolan. Mrs. O’Brien graduated from Larson College, currently Quinnipiac University, Hamden Connecticut, in 1939. She also received an honorary Bachelor of Science degree from Quinnipiac University, in May, 2001. She was president of New Haven Women’s Intermediate Club in 1959 and 1971 and president of The Ladies Guild of St Rita Church, Hamden, Connecticut in 1972. In addition, Mrs. O’Brien was a past recording secretary of St Rita Church Parish Council, Chairman of the Ladies Golf Association at Laurel View Country Club, and Patient Service Chairman of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Greater New Haven. She was also a past member of the High Lane Club, North Haven, Connecticut, where she was an avid bowler and Entertainment Chairman. A Florida resident since 1980, Mrs. O’Brien coordinated bridge games at Good Will on both the Galt Ocean Mile and the Beach Community Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She was a member of The Lighthouse Point Yacht Club. She is survived by daughters, Karen Margaret Lenois of North Haven, Connecticut, Regina Anne Thomas of Haverford, Pennsylvania and sons, Mark Christopher O’Brien of Pompano Beach, Florida and J. Philip Andrew O’Brien of Raleigh, North Carolina. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Robert G. Lenois, Jr. of New York, New York, Danielle M. Lenois of New York, New York, Paul A. Lenois of Guilford, Connecticut, Rebecca S. Thomas of Boston Massachusetts and Sarah M. Donehue of New York, New York. Mrs. O’Brien is survived by her great grandchildren, Julia Rose Lenois, Christopher Caldwell Donehue and James Thomas Jaquith. She was predeceased by John B. O’Brien. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 9:00 in St Rita Church 1620 Whitney Ave. Hamden, Connecticut 06517. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Donations in Mrs. O’Brien’s name may be made to St. Rita School, 1620 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, Connecticut 06517.
