Gene was a former employee of Berne Furniture and spent 20 years at Central Soya Research Center in Decatur. He enjoyed the outdoors and John Deere tractors. He and Diane enjoyed being foster parents.
Survivors include his wife, son, Philip(Crystal)Achleman of Decatur, daughters; Amanda(Jeff)Minch of Berne, Kimberly Achleman of Indianapois, Tammy Dunn of Hartford City and 7 grandchildren.
Preceding in death are his parents and 2 grandchildren.
Funeral services are Sunday, November 1, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation also Saturday, October 31 from 3 to 8 pm at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home. Officiating is Pastor Roger Bixler. Burial is in the MRE Cemetery, Berne.
Preferred memorials are to Adams County Community Foundation-Cancer Fund.
