Within a couple years they had all settled in Clayton Co., Iowa. The father, Johann, passed away there in 1863. The two daughters married and remained in Clayton County. The two sons moved west, Fred Wilhelm [with his 2nd wife & 3 kids] to Nebraska in 1866, and Charles [with his wife & 2 kids] to Kansas in 1868. Some years later the mother, Magdalena [Caroline], came west to live with her sons & their families.

Four children mourn her death. May God unite them all again in front of his throne!"
